November 09, 2010
The work of the Fund for Our Economic Future will be featured at the Global Metro Summit in Chicago on Dec. 8 that is being hosted by Brookings Metro Policy Program, the London School of Economics and Political Science and the International Forum of Deutsche Bank.
Fund President Brad Whitehead will part of an international panel that will explore regional economic transformation. Other participants in the panel will be representing Torino, Italy; Barcelona, Spain; the Twin Cities region of Minnesota; and Seattle-Puget Sound in Washington. The panel will be moderated by Ricky Burdett, Director of the London School of Economics Cities Programme.
The Fund and other partners in Advance Northeast Ohio have been working with Brookings over the last year to enhance the region's economic competitiveness plan and related strategies to persuade the federal government to provide more flexible and targeted assistance to the region.
The summit will feature U.S. and international thought leaders and innovators who will share research and practical ideas for economic transformation. Learn more about and register for the summit.
"The Global Metro Summit provides Northeast Ohio an opportunity to showcase to federal officials and global leaders the progress our region is making toward a more vibrant economic future and we will use it to secure more support for our work," Whitehead said. "Being one of three U.S. regions chosen by Brookings to be highlighted at the summit is affirmation of the success that the Fund has had in forging a collaborative, regional and systemic approach to strengthening the economic competitiveness of Northeast Ohio."
