June 08, 2010

Philanthropic support for the work of the Fund for Our Economic Future continues to grow. During the second quarter, four foundations committed $1.5 million to the third phase of the Fund, which runs through the end of February 2013.

The Kelvin and Eleanor Smith Foundation committed $1 million, the Eva L. and Joseph M. Bruening Foundation committed $300,000, the George W. Codrington Charitable Foundation committed $150,000, and the Sisters of Charity Foundation of Canton committed $50,000.

Over the next three years Fund anticipates awarding about $20.5 million in grants in support of Advance Northeast Ohio, the region’s economic competitiveness agenda.

“The philanthropic community’s continued commitment to supporting the economic revitalization of the Northeast Ohio’s economy is inspiring,” said Brad Whitehead, president of the Fund. “I want to thank the boards of the foundations for their continued leadership and support.”
